The not-so-neon sign.

Not-so-neon-sign

The Pseudo-Neon Sign (see below) morphed into a different thing entirely. The final version has been in operation for a few years.

Sculpture LIghting

My Texas brother-in-law Tim Glover does big sculptures, and often needs lighting for them.  My goal is to develop a cheap, web-controlled system that withstands the elements.  Probably need a combination of floods and strips.  Yes, I know there's plenty of cheap IR controlled product out there.  I haven't found any that allow automated group control.  I won't be afraid to integrate them if they fit a need, maybe using IR blasters for control.

Pseudo-Neon Sign

I'm planning to make a lighted sign for my other brother-in-law Tom Reardon and my sister Kathleen Doyle (a.k.a. TRKD) They've got a jewelry studio in Asheville NC.  The sign will be about 18" high and 12" wide, hanging perpendicular to the wall above their door.  I call it pseudo-neon, and if I were strict each element would follow the glass bending constraints of a true neon sign.  Since this project will be the first thing their customers see, it must stay consistent with the established graphical design.  That includes the logo inside the diamond below, and the artist names.  You can see these elements in their web site: http://www.trkd.com/.

I've seen a few "Open" signs built this way, but they don't lend themselves to custom design.  Hopefully I can get to the point that whipping out a new sign goes pretty quick.

Gnome House/Pico-Solar Installation

This started as an alternative way for Tim to get power to an outside sculpture for lighting.  It kind of went out of control once my mom got involved.

I'll work on fleshing out a page for this, but it's up an running providing power for my holiday lights.

Mr and Mrs Gnome are made of stoneware, my preference over cement or plastic.  They come from: Kimmel Gnomes.
